Freelance Sports Writers (Code: Freelance-SPO)
Job Description:
- We need writers to gather and write stories in feature, news and & information formats for the following sports beat:
- boxing
- billiards
- motor sports (car, motorbike, gokart)
- horse racing
- golf, polo
- tennis, badminton
- water sports (swimming, yacthing, regatta, sailing)
- Cover local and national sports events
- Provide entertaining and thought provoking sports essays/features
- Report to the sports editor for assignments & submission of story ideas
- Conduct interviews with sports personalities
- Assist in securing photos and video permission/sessions
Qualifications:
- Must know the beat and an expert in writing sports articles on one or more sports
- At least one year experience covering Philippine sports for print publications
- Excellent grammar and able to write concise copy for online publication
- Extensive contacts in Philippine sports, private leagues, gov’t agencies, events organizers.
- Average computer skills and familiarity with Internet tools like emails and blogging.
- Photography skills an advantage.
- Ability to take videos an advantage
